How To Eliminate Worry and Anxiety and Make The Best Possible Decisions Everytime
Would you like to know how to reduce worry and anxiety and make the best possible decisions every time? Of course you would! The following checklist will work both personally and in business and will help you take the correct course of action no matter what you are facing. I strongly suggest printing this out for your personal records and emailing it to those you care about. I have carried these notes closely with me for over 15 years and refer to them often—a real jewel to have on hand.
WORRY AND ANXIETY
1. What am I worrying about? (Limit problems to one at a time and write it down and be specific).
2. What can I do about it? (Identify the problem, move towards defining solutions, see problem solving )
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
1. What is the specific problem? (Only one at a time and write it down).
2. What is the cause (s) of the problem? (Write them down)
3. Is the problem within your control or outside your control? (If the problem is outside your control, don’t worry about it because you cannot solve it and worry will not help to solve it). If the problem is within your control:
- Get the facts.
- Analyze the facts.
- Understand the specific problem.
PROBLEM SOLVING
1. What are the possible solutions to the problem? (Write down all the possible solutions you can think of for the specific problem. Keep in mind there are only two types of actions you can take. Either constructive or destructive actions. Where,
- Constructive-Positive action to “fix” the problem.
- Destructive-Worrying and talking about problem.
2. What is the worst that can happen? (Identify the worst possible outcomes)
- Prepare to accept the worst (If you have to).
- Calmly proceed to improve the worst case scenario(s).
3. Arrive at a decision.
- Act on that decision.
- Do something about it.
There is no better way to analyze worry and problem solving than what is presented here. This is the most logical path to take. A few other thoughts are worth mentioning:
1. There is no right way to do a wrong thing.
2. Does the thing you are worrying about really matter to you? Then fix it IF it is within your control.
3. Worrying over problems that are OUTSIDE your control is a waste of time and energy.
4. Do not tell people your problems unless they have the capacity to help you fix them.
I hope this outline will help you as much as it has helped me throughout the years.
